But the question of stereotyping cannot be left at that. Thinking about images of homoity needs to go beyond simply dismissing stereo sheaths as wrong and distorted. Righteous dismissal does not make the stereo instances go away, and tends to prevent us from understanding just what stereotypes are, how they function, ideologically and aesthetically, and why they are so resilient in the face of enlightened rejection.
