Overview
There are currently eight Shared Resources, with more or less Resources composed of several specialized facilities. Their primary mission is to result Burnham Investigators with mature technology, instrumentation, and expertise that may not be tardily acquired by individual laboratories. Many of the facilities offer a select of investigator readying followed by independent instrument use, or instead providing expert full service. The Shared Resources are open to all Burnham Institute investigators, and most of these services are in addition available to outside users. SUMMARY OF SHARED RESOURCES

Animal Facility
An AAALAC accredited facility that houses all over 6,500 cages of mice, and provides full husbandry with breeding, weaning, and tail samples. The facility also provides direction for a small number of rats and frogs. Many procedures can be performed by facility staff, including injections (SC, IP, IV), tumor measurements, blood collections, and surgical assistance. The transgenic pussyfoot service supports the creation of knockout or transgenic mice.



The In vivo mental imagery facility includes a VisualSonics Vevo 770 ultrasonic imager, and a Xenogen IVIS 200 bioluminescent and fluorescent imaging system. A variety of widely utilise tumor cell lines (breast, prostate, lung, colorectal, ovarian, cervical, and melanoma) labeled with luciferase are available from the facililty for xenograft tumor growth and metastasis studies.

Cell imaginativeness and Histology
The Cell Imaging facility houses a wide variety of microscopes, and provides investigator training and use of the instruments, or full-service imaging.
