Throughout the novel, Holden switches from childhood to adulthood where curiosity manifests his callowness and his forethought and fear as him world an adult. His trouble of not being suitable to create a lasting relationship is the top of him being a hypocrite. Caulfield attempts to control the world around him by forming a barrier that is both beneficiaries to the sense that he is able to criticize and philosophize about the world around him, and in any case hurts him because he has a hard time having a substantially connection with people he encounters.
