Robert Earl Hayden     This paper will endeavor to examine the life of Robert Earl Hayden.  Mr. Hayden is of historic significance because he emerged as one of the most technically gifted and conceptually expansive poets in American and African American literature. Conscientious of the specificities of race and culture, Haydens poetry is noted for the alter concerns of African American social and political difficulties.     Robert Earl Hayden was born terrible 4, 1913, to a struggling couple, Ruth and Asa Sheffey, who separated soon after his birth. Hayden attended Detroit City College (Wayne State University), and unexpended in 1936 to work for the Federal Writers Project, where he researched black invoice and folk culture.
